A Night to Beat The Odds In Washington, DC To Benefit The Cure Starts Now Foundation
Cancer has impacted many people around the world. The worst thing about this ugly disease is that in comes in many forms, one of them being pediatric brain cancer. On Saturday November 15, 2014, the Washington, D.C. chapter of The Cure Starts Now Foundation will host A Night to Beat the Odds at the Columbus Club of Arlington. The Cure Starts Now Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007, dedicated to finding a “homerun cure” for all cancers. The nonprofit does however, place an emphasis on pediatric brain cancer. The Cure Starts Now has raised over $2.5 million since it’s establishment.
The casino themed event will double as a fundraiser and a night to honor Alexis Agin, a victim of a form of pediatric brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Giloma (DIPG). Alexis is the late daughter of the Washington, D.C. chapter founders, Neely and Johnathan Agin. The parents started the chapter in 2009, naming it Team Alexis. Team Alexis usually hosts an annual National Race Against the Odds 5K Run however, the organization decided to try something new. There will be plenty of casino activities to partake in including; Blackjack, Craps, Poker, and Roulette. Attendees can also participate in both silent and live auctions. If the Vegas ambiance isn’t enough, great music, food, and refreshments will also be provided.
All proceeds will be donated to The Cure Starts Now Foundation and used to expand research on finding a cure for cancer. It will be an amazing night filled with plenty of fun supporting a greater cause. Be sure to sign up for email updates or follow Team Alexis on Facebook.
