Bright Beginnings Annual 5k Race March 23 in Washington, D.C.

Last year’s race

Join Bright Beginnings for its 18th Annual 5K Race on Sunday, March 23, 2014. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Bright Beginnings, a DC-based non-profit which provides education, therapeutic and family-stabilizing services for about 30% of Washington’s homeless infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and their families, to give them the best chance of success in school and in life.
During the race, runners will enjoy a scenic view of the Tidal Basin, Jefferson Memorial, and the Potomac River. More than 900 runners and walkers have historically participated in this event, so help us grow by spreading the word!
Sponsored by the Junior League of Washington, Bright Beginnings’ annual 5K is its largest fundraiser. So far 250 people have registered and more are expected. Event organizers hope to raise $60,000 this year, which will provide critically-needed financial resources that prepare homeless children for kindergarten and help get their families back on their feet.

“Our Bright Beginnings 5K is a perfect example of the village that comes to together to make a difference in the lives of homeless children and their families,” said Dr. Betty Jo Gaines, Bright Beginnings’ Executive Director. “We can transform challenges into bright beginnings. Each of us has an important role to play in giving homeless children and their parents the best chance of success in school and in life.”
DC. Bright Beginnings, which has served over 2,100 homeless children and their families during the last 23 years, is a nationally-accredited child and family development center for homeless infants, toddlers and preschoolers and their families. Its comprehensive education and therapeutic services positively impact school readiness and prepare homeless children for kindergarten.

With Charity + Life, I am going back to a personal blog where I can share my favorite things, and continue to shine a light on nonprofits, and cause marketing campaigns to inspire others to give as they live.
