Fight Night 2013 To Benefit Children’s Education & Healthcare Service Programs
On November 14, Fight Night 2013 will bring together over 1,800 “heavyweights” of business; government and philanthropy for an electrifying evening that will feature live boxing bouts and world-class entertainment in the nation’s capital. This year, with the help of Under Armour Founder & CEO, Kevin Plank, these “heavy-hitters” will work collectively to raise funds to support Fight For Children, an organization aimed at giving back to the community and providing underserved, low-income children in Washington, DC with the educational and medical services necessary to stay healthy and learn.
With the featured “Legends of Boxing”, Gerry Cooney, Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, Aaron Pryor, James “Buster” Douglas, and Michael Spinks all expected to be in attendance, this culmination of power will certainly be one of the District’s most prevalent philanthropic nights of the year.
In 2012, this sold-out, black-tie affair raised $2.2 million, more than doubling the donations received in 2011. This year though is sure to be a “knockout” as organizers hope to break all previous marks and raise over $3 million.
Fight For Children launched in 1990 and since that time, the organization has generated over $450 million for these programs, with approximately $100 million coming as a direct result of fundraising events and initiatives such as Fight Night.
