Dr. George Bitar is a board certified Plastic Surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.  Dr. Bitar graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine and completed his General Surgery residency training at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. His Plastic Surgery residency was completed at the University of Virginia where he served as Chief Resident and received the Chairman’s Research Award for work with lasers. He completed fellowship training in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at the Charlotte Plastic Surgery Center in North Carolina. He then completed an International Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship training with Dr. Ellenbogen in Beverly Hills, Dr. Pitanguy in Rio de Janeiro, Dr. Mendelson in Melbourne, Dr. Widgerow in Johannesburg, Dr. Giampapa in New Jersey, and Dr. Marchac in Paris. Dr. Bitar serves as Assistant Clinical Professor at George Washington University School of Medicine.

Dr. Bitar has published many book chapters, and over a dozen articles in peer-reviewed medical journals about the latest plastic surgery techniques. He has been an invited speaker at several national and international conferences, and is currently a Clinical Investigator and Regional Trainer for Sciton.

In addition to his clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Bitar has been recognized for his community service by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as 2006 National Man of the Year. As a continued commitment of enhancing the quality of life through plastic surgery, Dr. Bitar has volunteered on medical missions to India and Vietnam to operate on children with severe burn, facial and hand deformities. He volunteers on the medical school admissions committee at George Washington University.

His professional affiliations include membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, The American College of Surgeons, The National Capitol Plastic Surgery Society, and the Northern Virginia Medical Society. He maintains hospital privileges at Inova Fairfax Hospital and Prince William Hospital.

He has been named one of Washingtonian magazine’s top plastic surgeons by his peers, and has also been named a top plastic surgeon by Northern Virginia magazine and by U.S. Airways Magazine and American Way magazine. He has been featured on Retirement Living TV, on multiple radio stations, and in numerous national and international magazines.
