Have you ever dreamed of doing something “impossible?” Well that’s exactly what actress and activist Sophia Bush wants you to try.
As the Celebrity Ambassador for the Impossible Ones, a new initiative of Pencils of Promise (an organization dedicated to increasing access to quality education in the developing world), Bush’s call to action is simple: dare to try the impossible.
Launched this week, the Impossible Ones is a challenge to all of the world-changers out there to step up and create fundraisers linked to personal “impossible” goals. From conquering a physical challenge, to overcoming a fear, or pledging a birthday or milestone, all in hopes of helping Pencils of Promise reach its goal of raising enough money to build 100 schools in developing nations this year.
With over 61 million children living without access to education, the Impossible Ones is hoping to resonate with “Generation Possible” and motivate them to get involved and take action.

But don’t think Sophia is all talk. She helped kick off the campaign by pledging to raise $30,000 for her 30th birthday for this worthy cause, and ultimately raised over $60,000 to build two schools in the village of Guadalupana, Guatemala.
“On the impact trip I took with Pencils of Promise to Guadalupana, what struck me immediately was just how high need the community is,” recalls Sophia Bush. “And that’s where my Impossible came from. Could I raise the money to build a school?”
And if changing the world wasn’t incentive enough to participate, the Impossible Ones has some pretty amazing prizes fund raisers can win.
The top fund raiser will win a trip to Guatemala with Sophia Bush and Foster the People’s Mark Foster to visit a new school building! Anyone who raises $1,000+ is entered in a sweepstakes to win a Semester At Sea scholarship valued up to $23,750 and earn 9-15 college credits from the University of Virginia for transfer to their home university on a fall, spring, or summer voyage. And anyone who raises $100 wins a t-shirt and is also entered in weekly a sweepstakes to win college scholarships.

With Charity + Life, I am going back to a personal blog where I can share my favorite things, and continue to shine a light on nonprofits, and cause marketing campaigns to inspire others to give as they live.
