BP’s Response

Share

I’m sure my readers are as frustrated about the situation BP caused in the Gulf of Mexico as I am. My heart goes out to all those down south whose homes, and livelihoods have been affected. I’m was always for capitalism and deregulation, but with corporations acting so recklessly and irresponsibly, I realize we need better government oversight. It’s absurd that BP never had a response plan for a deepwater oil disaster. And it’s even more disgusting how they’ve handled the aftermath. BP Chief Executive Tony Hayward jetting off to watch his yacht compete in the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race just shows how out of touch executives of multinational corporations can be. I’m guessing he was touching base with J.P. Morgan about how all the money in his “golden parachute” is being invested. Fortunately this yacht race is actually a fundraiser for cancer. Last year’s race raised £100,000 and to help the fight against cancer through: Macmillan, Prostate UK, Breast Cancer Care and Ellen MacArthur trust.

I thought this was a great video and hope you enjoy it!

In 2008, I launched AskMissA.com which grew from my personal blog into a site with 700 writers, covering the intersection of charity & lifestyle in 20 U.S. cities. With Charity + Life, I am going back to a personal blog where I can share my favorite things, and continue to shine a light on nonprofits, and cause marketing campaigns to inspire others to give as they live.
