Annual Oscar Night® DC will benefit the American Red Cross
The American Red Cross in the National Capital Region will host its Third Annual Oscar Night® DC on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New York Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. This event is the only official Academy-sanctioned Washington, D.C. Oscar Night® DC viewing party. This event is one of the major fundraising activities for our Red Cross.
“It’s so important for corporations and individuals to support the vital work that the American Red Cross does for our community. Hopefully, we have created a unique event that is not only a fun way to watch the Oscars, but a wonderful way to give back to the Red Cross,” said Andrea Rodgers who has served on the Host Committee for the past three years.
“American Red Cross in the National Capital Region provides services to our community, which is at a greater risk than perhaps any other region in the country. This event has become a premier opportunity for business leaders to help our local chapter of the American Red Cross create the best prepared, the most responsive and the most engaged community in the nation—before, during and after emergencies of all kinds,” said Joe Carden, Vice President at the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council, who is Chairing Oscar Night® DC this year.
“The programs in our community will be stronger because of the support given to the American Red Cross through Oscar Night® DC. We are thrilled to be part of this spectacular event in 2010,” said Linda Mathes, CEO of the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region.

Men, women and children across our community and beyond are helped by the services of the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region. The volunteers and staff of Red Cross, people who are your neighbors, are committed to responding in times of emergency. They work with the men and women of the military and their families, train thousands in lifesaving courses, provide a safe blood supply and educate our neighbors about home and business preparedness in times of disaster. The American Red Cross in the National Capital Region is the premier local resource to empower individuals and mobilize our community to survive the unexpected and save lives. Red Cross is supported by voluntary donations.
